Digital Film Technology acquires Sondor’s IPR

What has dft acquired?

Over the past few months, dft has been working with the management team at Sondor, with a view to acquiring Sondor’s intellectual property rights (IPR). On January 1st 2017, dft will be taking over most of Sondor’s assets – which includes rights to the technology and the Sondor brand.

How does the acquisition affect agents and distributors?

The Sondor and dft distribution network of agents and distributors has very little overlap. Consequently, there are no immediate changes to the structure planned. dft will contact current Sondor partners/agents/distributors and discuss agreements with dft from January 1st 2017.

How does the acquisition affect customers?

We will be contacting all Sondor customers to explain the new arrangements, and provide contacts for service and support. Please could you endeavor to reassure your customers that you will be remaining in place to provide continued support to them.

Will the Sondor brand remain?

Yes, the Sondor brand has a long and respected heritage, so we expect to keep the brand for all sound scanning solutions.

Will original Sondor product warranty be honored by dft?

Yes, as per our standard dft Terms & Conditions.

Will my service contract be fulfilled by dft?

Yes, as per our standard dft Terms & Conditions.

Whom will resolve Sondor issues going forward?

Your current channel partner and Digital Film Technology GmbH will from the 1st of January 2017 be the normal point of contact for all service and spares issues going forward.

Where will Sondor products be manufactured?

The dft research and development team have spent several months working alongside the Sondor team in Switzerland. In January manufacturing, will transfer to the dft facility in Germany, and the facility in Switzerland will close.

What about service and support?

dft has an experienced service and support team, located worldwide, many of whom already possess extensive knowledge of the Sondor product range. All spare parts, stock and materials from the Swiss Sondor facility will be transferring to Germany.
